UnopenedI gave what I had for every hour. Emptying myself into the cup. Keeping satisfaction in her eyes. And on and on. I paid up. The cup overfloweth. She gave me pretty boxes that I left unopened faithfully. They were promises of a future. Promises that only I visited her bed. They were shiny ribbons on a decorated box with bricks and ash inside. The Death of a GirlHe forced the door open on the worst Winter day. He found her tangled in the comforter and spattered with blood. He held her. He held her until they pulled him off. It's so hard to forget. "Not that I'd want to." We all pretend that we don't want to. But, the death of a girl can unravel a man. Silhouette of reason running, always blurred by the distance.
